What to Do If Your Photo Project Won’t Load

If you're encountering an error when trying to open or create a photo project using the Mimeo Photos or Motif extension in the Apple Photos app, it usually means the extension is having trouble communicating with your Photos library. This often results in project data not loading correctly.

In many cases, this issue can be resolved by following the steps below.

First, Confirm the Following:

Before beginning any troubleshooting, ensure the following are true:

  • You have the latest version of the Mimeo Photos or Motif app installed from the App Store.
  • Your macOS is Catalina (10.15) or newer.
  • You have at least 10GB of free disk space on your Mac.

Try These Steps to Resolve the Issue:

1. Quit and Restart

  • If the Photos app is open, close it.
  • Restart your Mac.

2. Uninstall and Reinstall the App

  • Open your Applications folder and uninstall the Mimeo Photos or Motif app.
  • Restart your Mac.
  • Reinstall the app from the Mac App Store.
  • After reinstalling, launch the app from your Applications folder first, then open the Photos app.

3. Check if Mimeo Photos is Enabled

  • Open Photos → File → Create → See if “Mimeo Photos” appears.
  • If it doesn’t, try reinstalling the extension.

4. Reset Mimeo Photos’ Access

  • Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos.
  • Remove Mimeo Photos, then add it back.

5. For macOS Sequoia 15.2 or Newer
